Introduction
In a previous post I looked at receiving both AIS & ADS-B and displaying them on OpenCPN using a combination of aisdeco2 & MULTIPSK (Ref.1). The immediate application for this is for an off shore oil/exploration rig, where knowledge of local ships is important (AIS), as well as incoming/outgoing helicopters that land on the platform (ADS-B). Recently I started working with SDRangel and I learned from an RTL-SDR forum post that AIS & ADS-B could both be displayed by SDRangel on a local map.
Hardware/Software Configuration

Figure 1 shows the hardware layout of a Windows 10 laptop with 2xRTL-SDR receivers with 1m whip antennas. The 1st RTL-SDR is set for R0 at 162MHz and the 2nd RTL-SDR is set for R1 at 1090MHz. Figure 3 shows the SDRangel configuration of the two AIS demodulators. This was discussed previously (Ref.2). Figure 4 shows the SDRangel configuration for the ADS-B demodulator. Figure 5 shows the AIS Map Feature showing both AIS and ADS-B decodes.
