About

I am a senior telecommunications engineer (P.Eng.ret’d) and Advanced Amateur Radio Operator VE3PKC. My interests are in Amateur Radio, Marine Navigation and more recently in Space Communications. I have worked and travelled all over the world, learning the value of portable light weight equipment. My first summer job I worked in Northern Canada on the Coppermine RIver. We communicated with a Spilsbury HF SSB radio and worked with magnetometers. Lately I have been receiving University Cube-Satellites and working with GNURadio. In 1968 I wandered into “The Binnacle” a marine store on Sherbrooke Street in Montreal. I bought a copy of the American Practical Navigator. I was fascinated with the blue star charts.
